How do I configure my ESET security product to restrict access to specific websites? (4.0)

The ESET Smart Security Antivirus and antispyware module allows you to restrict access to specific websites or entire domains. To block websites, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the main program window by clicking the icon  next to the system clock or by clicking Start → All Programs → Eset → ESET Smart Security.
  2. Switch to Advanced Mode by clicking Toggle Advanced mode in the lower left corner of the main window. In the left column, click SetupAntivirus and antispyware.
  3. In the Web access protection section, click Configure... .

  4. The Advanced Setup window will appear. Below the  Web access protection heading in the left-hand menu tree, click the '+' next to HTTP, HTTPS, to expand the menu tree, and then click Address management.
  5. Select List of blocked addresses/masks from the drop-down menu. Deselect Allow access only to http addresses in the list of allowed addresses.
  6. Click Add... and type the web address(es) of the site(s) you wish to block.


    NOTE: The wildcards '*' and '?' may also be used. For example, if you wanted to block all addresses from nk01.warshare.com to nk98.warshare.net, you would enter: 'nk??.warshare.*'

  7. Click OK to confirm and OK again to exit the Advanced Setup window.
